Build An Effective Scope of Work
What is a scope of work?
The format for requests for proposals (RFP’s) vary significantly between organizations and products and services. However, a consistent piece of any request for proposal should be clearly articulating the scope of work. The scope of work identifies exactly the outcome that the proposal should provide a solution to. It is the outcome by which the organization will make decisions on and measure effectiveness against. It is the backbone of any RFP!
What should the scope of work include?
- The scope of work should clearly define the deliverable and/or need.
- The scope of work should clearly define a budget if working to a budget.
What should the scope of work “NOT” include?
- The scope of work should NOT define the process by which the outcome should be achieved.
- The scope of work should NOT allow for ambiguity in the outcome.
